2. Paranormalcy

Two. That’s right. Here it is, nearly February, and I’ve read TWO books so far this year. That’s pretty pathetic, especially considering that this time last year I was averaging two to three a week.
But let’s put my failings aside for a sec and focus on the book I did manage to read: Paranormalcy.
You know those days you’re feeling down? Those days where nothing seems to go right, and you just want to climb back in bed and pull the covers over your head? This book, my friends, is the cure for days like that. It’s the equivalent of a fun romantic comedy—from the hilarious opening line, all the way until the leaving-you-wanting-more last line.
The book centers on Evie, a sparkle-loving paranormal tracker who works for an international paranormal containment agency and who, deep down, just wants to be a normal teen. Other key players include Evie’s morally ambiguous ex-boyfriend, her current crush/shapeshifter, and her best friend/mermaid. Not your average cast of characters. The action really starts when Evie figures out that she’s not the mere human she thought she was and has to run for it.
Check out this book. Heck, save it for a rainy day if you must. It’ll bring a smile to your face.
