My bucket list

Today I’m participating in Mo’s Bucket List blogfest (and you should too), but first I’m going to announce the winner of the SAINT IGGY giveaway. Without further ado, the winner as chosen by random.org is …..

RACHEL SEARLES!!

Congrats, Rachel! I’ll be sending you an email later today to get your deets. Now, on to the blogfest!

My bucket list is actually pretty boring. There are only two things on it.

1. See my name on the cover of a book.
I’ve seen my name on the cover of things before. Well, a thing. I was the executive editor of a legal journal in law school, and I had an article selected for publication. When it came out, the journal gave me a copy of the full journal, as well as a number of professionally bound copies of the article itself, right there with my name on the cover. And I have a degree in journalism, so I’ve had my name in a bunch of bylines. But still …

… not the same as having your name on the cover of a book. Not even close. (Even though I put blood, sweat and tears into that journal article, and probably took as much time writing it as I did a novel.) But some day before I die, I will see a book of mine in print. That’s a promise to myself.

2. Travel. Here’s an embarrassing fact: I don’t have a passport. Seriously. I did have one, and it had many, many stamps, but then I got married, changed my name, life got busy, and I never got a new passport. I meant to. I went and got pictures taken and everything, but they turned out so terrible I decided there was no way I was going to subject anonymous customs officials to such a horrific photo that I threw them away and neglected to finish the application. I got married THREE years ago, so this is all quite pathetic.

Screw it, internet, I’m taking care of this TODAY. It’s been far too long. And then I will start crossing places off my “Must Visit Before I Die” list. A few places on that list:

  • India.
  • Africa. (Where I was supposed to go in 2005, but … [insert long story here])
  • China.
  • Chile.
  • Israel.

What about you? What’s on your bucket list? Head on over to Mo’s blog and sign up for the fest!
