Website Kickoff Extravaganza! Day Three!

If you still haven’t entered Days One and Two yet, there’s still plenty of time to do that! All of these giveaways will stay open until Saturday at midnight. I’ll draw winners on Sunday and announce on Monday.

Today’s giveaway is also about helping a cause. The lovely Kat Brauer has organized the Crits for Water Campaign. For every $1 you donate, Kat has offered to critique 250 words of your manuscript, query or synopsis. All proceeds go to charity: water. What is charity: water? Here, I’ll let them explain it.

Right now, almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water. That’s one in eight of us. charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. We use 100% of public donations to directly fund sustainable water solutions in areas of greatest need.

Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren’t strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.

90% of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are to children under five years old. Many of these diseases are preventable. The UN predicts that one tenth of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply and sanitation.

I’ve donated $25 to Crits for Water so far, and since I don’t have a need for a manuscript critique at the moment, Kat has so generously offered to let me give it to you. So today’s giveaway is for a critique of up to 6,250 words of your manuscript, query or synopsis (which works out to somewhere between 20 and 25 pages, if your manuscript is anything like mine). All you have to do is leave a comment.

And if you’d like to read more about Kat’s Crits for Water Campaign, or find out the schedule of special guest critiques she’s lined up, please do! And you can always donate directly to the cause. Kat’s trying to raise $5,000 this year. Let’s help her!
