Project 365: Week (7 and) 8

You might notice that I didn’t post a picture last week. And really, it’s not for lack of trying! I’ve been religiously taking them but, well, they’ve mostly been crap. I’m figuring out my strengths and weaknesses as a photographer, and let’s just say that it’s becoming increasingly clear that I suck at portraits. S.U.C.K. I’ve been really focusing all of my energy into taking portrait shots the past two weeks, and … yeah. It should go without saying that a two-year-old is not the greatest subject in terms of following directions. I mean, I can barely even get her to look at the camera. *le sigh*

So without further ado, my “best” picture this week.

Aw, look at Miss Vivian. She looks so introspective. Love her outfit and hair accessory. You’ll get better at photography — just like writing. Practice, practice, practice.

  2. Your daughter looks so pretty and so thoughtful here!

Dude, I don’t know what you mean about sucking at portraits. I realize this might be the only good one of the batch, but it’s pretty darn GOOD, if you ask me. You captured all the colors so well–her dress is vivid, her rosy cheeks, and even the gray of her seat and green behind. Just stunning, Mer.

Also, Vivian is utterly adorable (as usual).

I don’t know, Mer. You mentioned Vivi doesn’t follow your directions, but I really love the un-posed feel of this picture. You’ve captured her for one moment just being herself. I bet as the years go by, you grow to like this one more and more!
