Books I’ve read so far this year. Kind of.

I know I’ve said before that I’ve read more books this year than I usually do, but I didn’t know the exact number so I gave in to curiosity and sat down yesterday to make a list. I’ve never been much of a written list-maker personally. I’m much more inclined to go to the store with a mental list of 47 different things I need, then curse myself when I get home and realize I’ve forgotten to buy vanilla and now I can’t make cookies, dammit!

So compiling this list after the fact was both difficult and frustrating, mainly because I know I’m missing AT LEAST a dozen books. Namely the books I checked out from the library. It was easy to walk over to my bookshelf and check my eReader table of contents, but the library doesn’t keep a borrowing history (at least not online), which is annoying. If the government can have access to that information, why can’t I?

But I digress. Without further ado, my (very incomplete) list of books I’ve read this year:

1. Pillars of the Earth
2. Middlesex
3. 19 Minutes
4. New Moon
5. Eclipse
6. Breaking Dawn
7. The Road
8. The Help
9. A Great and Terrible Beauty
10. White Cat
11. The Time Travelers Guide to Medieval England
12. The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie
13. The Weed that Strings the Hangman’s Bag
14. The Book Thief
15. The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane
16. The Gargoyle (which I alwaysalwaysalways refer to as “The Guardian” for some reason)
17. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian
18. 13 Reasons Why
19. City of Glass (re-read)
20. The Hunger Games
21. Catching Fire
22. Catherine, Called Birdy
23. Water for Elephants

That’s only 23, and I’ve been averaging a book every 3 or 4 days, so this list falls way short. I think I might even go to the library and see if they can pull the information for me because it’s really driving me crazy. Bonus points to anyone who can crawl inside my head and remember those books that are hidden away in a mental file cabinet somewhere!

It’s impossible to pick a favorite from this (very incomplete) list, or even a top 3. There are some great books on it. What about you? Do you have any favorites on this list? And what are your favorites that aren’t on the list? I still have 4 1/2 months left to add to it. And who knows, maybe you’ll suggest a book I’ve already read this year that I can to the list, in which case you will be my new BFF forever!!
