From Goodreads: Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris—until she meets Étienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he’s taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home. As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near-misses end with the French kiss Anna—and readers—have long awaited?
MATCHED by Ally Condie.
From Goodreads: Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.
MATCHED was both entertaining and thought-provoking. Ally Condie created quite a believable dystopian world in which the Society dictates every facet of your life, from huge decisions such as who you marry, to tiny ones such as the amount you eat for dinner. Almost from the get-go, I found myself cheering for Cassia to rebel, and her journey is not disappointing. I wound up flying through this book because I simply could not put it down.
And now for the giveaway part! I loved these books so much that I want to share them with you. One lucky winner will win a copy of either ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS or MATCHED. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, telling me which book you’re dying to read. That’s it! I’ll leave this open the rest of the week, and then on Friday I’ll pick a winner at random. There’s no need to be a blog follower, but if you are, you are AWESOME and I’ll give you another entry. Same thing if you blog or tweet about it. Not necessary but very nice, so you’ll get another entry for being cool.
Yay and happy reading!
