Sorry for the radio silence this week. I’ve been making a real push to get all of my revisions finished up ASAP, and, well, it’s taken every spare bit of free time I’ve had. I know, excuses, excuses. Onward with the Faves!
Favorite blog post I read this week: This amazingly detailed post from Adventures in YA and Children’s Publishing on adding backstory to your novels. Read and learn, amigos. Read and learn.
Favorite blog series I read this week: This post and this post from author Natalie Whipple on how to write beginnings and introduce characters, with a list of tips on how to do it right and and pitfalls to avoid.
Favorite picture of the week (AKA Project 365 entry): Turns out I’m allergic to Christmas. Or Christmas trees, at least. But still, they’re pretty to look at.
Favorite read of the week: Okay, technically I still have like 50 pages to go, but I’m going to go ahead and give this week’s favorite read title to DESTINED by Jessie Harrell. It’s a retelling of the Cupid/Psyche myth that is SO MUCH FUN. Check it out!
Favorite moment of the week: You know that feeling you get when you’ve been slaving away at revisions and you finally get to the point where you’re ready to send your WIP off to betas? Yeah. That.
Least favorite moment of the week: You know that feeling you get when you’re so sick with food poisoning that you’re lying on the bathroom floor hoping praying wishing for death? Yeah. That.
Second favorite moment of the week: You know that feeling you get when you try on a pair of jeans that haven’t fit you in a while and they not only zip up but actually fit? Yeah. That.
Second least favorite moment of the week: You know that feeling you get when you realize that said jeans are only zipping up because it’s the day after you had food poisoning and there’s no way this is permanent and—I’m sorry, is this getting old?
Favorite video of the week: So I’m not actually going to post a video this week but rather link to it because it’s … um … moderately inappropriate? But if you’re so inclined, go here and look at this pole dance. No worries, it’s not Vegas-style pole dancing, it’s amazing-feats-of-artistry-and-strength-a-la-Cirque-du-Soleil pole dancing. (The video really starts around 1:18). And if you do watch it, let me know what you think!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
