My husband and I have been talking about moving closer to the beach, and last week he made the offhand comment that it would be fun to buy a dilapidated old house on a good lot, knock it down and build our dream home. You guys. I am not the kind of person you can make these offhand comments to. Once you plant an idea in my head, I take off like I’m Usain Bolt in the Olympic trials, and I don’t slow down until I’ve either crossed the finish line or fallen down and died from exhaustion.
On Monday I got on Zillow (and Trulia and the MLS) to search for properties, and I totally found the perfect one. Now I just have to wait for them to drop the price a little more. On Tuesday I spent hours searching floor plans online. On Wednesday I was looking at pictures of kitchens and flooring. On Thursday I was checking Zillow (and Trulia and the MLS) to make sure there weren’t any lots I had missed. On Friday I was looking at design blogs for paint color inspirations. Clearly I am sick and must be stopped.
But anyway, yeah. That’s what I was up to all last week. But I did manage to keep up with a few blogs! From Writer Unboxed, How to Restore a Character’s Voice When They Develop Laryngitis. And from author Mary Lindsay over on Query Tracker, True Experience of the Editorial Process vs. Misconceptions. And lastly, Susan Dennard is giving away an ARC of SOMETHING STRANGE AND DEADLY over at Publishing Crawl. Trust me, guys, I’ve read this book and it is hold-onto-your-hats awesome.
And now with no segue whatsoever, here are some pictures I also managed to snap last week.
Sunset over my neighbor’s house.
Fresh tomatoes!
Soon-to-be fresh mangoes but now just pollen city!
Creepy spiderwebs!
Now you tell me: Are any of you like me in that you take simple ideas and run with them? (Please say I’m not alone on this). And have a great week!
